GUIDE TO LOS ANGELES

guide to los angeles

Since moving to San Diego, I've made lots of little trips to Los Angeles, usually only lasting a night or two. These quick visits have always been packed with lots of good things to eat, cool things to see, and fun places to go. Keep reading to get ideas on what to do the next time you're in Los Angeles.

Bottega Louie shelves

Eat
Bottega Louie
This Patisserie and Cafe has croissants, chocolate hazelnut beignets, and chocolate eclairs that rival the ones I've had in Paris. Their macarons weren't as good as I was expecting, but the pretty interior and picture perfect pastry counter made up for it.

Dominique Ansel
Have you noticed yet that I pretty much only eat at bakeries everywhere I go! This world famous bakery in known for their kouign aman, nicknamed DKA. Dominique Ansel is located in a high end shopping mall, so check out a few stores while you're there.

Bradbury Building

Museums and Architecture
The Getty
Pretty gardens and views of LA surround this art museum. Make sure to get there early in the morning to avoid elementary school field trip groups as much as possible.

The Getty Villa
Admire art and gardens at the Getty Villa in Malibu. I learned about lots of these art pieces and artists in my art history classes, so it was fun seeing it in person.

The Bradbury
This architectural landmark is a great place to pop into and look around for a few minutes. It's sky-lit atrium features stairs and elevators make from detailed iron work.

The Walt Disney Concert Hall
If you enjoy architecture, this is a great building to walk around the outside of. There is a nice garden area on the upper level with some table and chairs that is the perfect place to stop and eat a packed lunch.

The Last Bookstore

Shops and More
The Last Bookstore
New and used books are sold here, but there are also lots of Instagram spots scattered throughout the store. This would even be a cool place to hang out with some friends for a bit.

Balboa Island
Take a ferry into Balboa Island and enjoy the short trip across the water. I would leave your car behind, as parking is difficult to find and streets are narrow. Walk around the island looking at the houses and shops, and be sure to enjoy Newport Beach while you're here.

Hollywood Walk of Fame
When people think of Los Angeles, they think of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. See if you can find your favorite celebrity's stars, and check out some of the stores lining the way.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre
While touring the Hollywood Walk of Fame, stop by Grauman's Chinese Theatre to see the hand and footprints of celebrities in the concrete.

Are there any must see places in LA that I missed? Leave me a comment with your favorite place to visit, and be sure to check out my other Travel posts!
