AMSTERDAM HOUSE INVITATIONS
You guys know I'm a sucker for the Dancing Canal Houses in Amsterdam this time of year, as shown by my Amsterdam Houses Christmas Countdown. This year I decided to mix the same idea up a little bit with invitations. These can invite friends to a holiday party, contain a letter wishing someone a happy New Year, or even be a letter to Santa. The thing I love about these is that you can make the invitations as simple or as festive as you want depending on how much time you spend painting them. Keep scrolling for the tutorial!
1. Print out the Amsterdam House Invitation Template, then cut out the template and glue it together where indicated. Then trace the template onto a 12 by 12in piece of heavy brown paper. You can also convert the invitation and the liner to be used with a silhouette machine.
3. This is the fun part where the whole invitation starts looking amazing. Takes some white paint and a thin paint brush and paint around all the windows. You could stop here, or you could add a few more details to make the invitation really stand out. I added a wreath at the top of the house with a red bow at the bottom. You could also add little garlands above the windows or a string of lights.
4. Glue the white or yellow lining so that it is centered inside the invitation. Then write the party details or a letter inside. You could also add some painted candles in the windows for a festive touch.
I honestly think this might be one of my favorite Christmas DIYs I've ever made. I'd love to see how you recreate this Amsterdam House Invitation so tag your projects on Instagram with #diyintheforest.
